CE certification

The CE mark is a mandatory mark in the EU market. Whether it is a product produced by an enterprise within the EU or a product produced by another country, in order to be freely circulated in the EU market, the CE mark must be affixed to indicate that the product meets the basic requirements of the EU Directive on Technology Coordination and Standardization.

According to EU law, producers and importers are responsible for verifying that their products comply with the relevant EU Directive requirements. This means that the manufacturer (or importer) must undergo various tests to ensure that the product meets the relevant requirements. The manufacturer or importer must maintain a technical file file containing detailed descriptions of the equipment, drawings, test reports, etc. When the manufacturer or his authorized representative believes that the product has met the relevant requirements, they need to sign a Declaration of Conformity and then mark the product with the CE mark.

The government of each EU member state is responsible for monitoring whether products sold in the market comply with relevant product safety standards. Once the product has been spotted, the manufacturer must immediately provide relevant evidence or technical documentation to the customs or other review department to demonstrate how the product meets the requirements. If the product does not meet the requirements of the relevant directives or the manufacturer cannot provide the required documents, the product will be banned from sale, and even products on the market will be required to be fully recovered.

The scope of the CE mark is required to cover the EU and the member states of the European Free Trade Agreement. There are more than 20 major product categories that meet the requirements of the CE Directive (see http://www.cenelec.org for details).

All products within these specifications are subject to CE testing. The current mandatory state of the CE Directive applies to 27 European Union countries and the EFTA European Free Trade Agreement: Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Greece, Ireland, Denmark, Luxembourg, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Romania.

Unlike the certification mark, the CE mark is a self-declared mark that is attached to the product by the supplier and generally does not require third-party product testing. However, in some cases, the order will require your product to accept a designated agency, such as Intertek's mandatory verification. The so-called "Notify Body" is an independent institution that can be authorized by the European Union to perform the corresponding duties. Intertek has a number of LVD and MDD-designated agencies in Europe and a Competent Body under the EMC Directive. Not only that, but our laboratory in the UK is also the designated agency under the Gas and Toys Directive, and the Swedish laboratory is the designated agency under the Communication Terminal Equipment Directive.
