Sony Corp's regulations on the management of environmental management materials in components and materials, namely, SS-00259, was updated to seventeenth edition in March 1, 2019. The seventeenth edition of SS-00259 will come into effect on April 1, 2019. When the SONY group and the products, which are commissioned by SONY group, are designed, manufactured, the parts, materials and other items must comply with the relevant requirements of the management regulations. Compared with the sixteenth edition, there is no increase in the 1 level control substances in the SS-00259 seventeenth edition. The main amendments relate to the control of four neighboring areas, namely, DEHP (BBP, DBP and DIBP), PFOA, lead and cadmium exemption clauses and SVHC authorization material inventory.

The 1 level control of o-benzene (DEHP, BBP, DBP) is controlled by 16 editions of electronic products and bags. The limit is that each neighbor benzene is less than 0.1%. The 17 edition adds control to toys and children's feeding products. The limits are DEHP, BBP, DBP plus and less than 0.1%. At the same time, 2 levels of control are added to the materials except for the 1 level and the 3 level control. The materials delivered from January 1, 2020 to 1 are not in the 1 and 3 level control range, including bags, children's toys, children's feeding products (such as packaging materials, batteries, instruction ink, etc.), which require control of DEHP, DBP, BBP, DIBP four o-benzol and less than 0.1%.

The control of PFOA increased the level control of one of the CAS No.335-67-1 PFOA salt and related substances. The material was banned after January 1, 2020, and the PFOA and its salt limit were 25ppb. The combined limit of single PFOA related substances or PFOA related substances was 1000ppb (1ppm). The limit was 2.

The control of lead and cadmium has been adjusted according to RoHS's latest exemption clause.

According to the updated list of SVHC authorized substances, 12 kinds of 3 level control substances have been added.
