The ISO14064 standard was published in 2006 and is part of the Environmental Management Standard (ISO 14000). As a practical tool, it enables governments and businesses to calculate and control greenhouse gas emissions while serving greenhouse gas emissions trading. ISO14064 is organized into three parts:

ISO 14064-1—Specification and guidance for the quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and removals at the organizational level

ISO 14064-2—Specification and guidance for the quantification, monitoring and reporting of greenhouse gas emission reductions and removal enhancements at the project level

ISO 14064-3—Specifications and guidelines for the validation and verification of greenhouse gas claims

Corporate carbon emissions:

The direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions of a company over a given period of time (usually one year), consisting mainly of carbon dioxide (CO2e), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N20), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), sulphur hexafluoride (SF6), and nitrogen trifluoride (NF3), which are commonly expressed in terms of carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2e).

Implementation Significance of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Verification in Enterprises

l  Understand their own emission status and tap the potential of energy saving and emission reduction;

l  Help enterprises reduce costs and control environmental risks;

l  Meet the supply chain carbon disclosure requirements;

l  Meet customer bidding requirements;

l  Meet the requirements of the national key carbon emission enterprise carbon emission reporting and verification system;

l  Satisfy carbon trading (such as: carbon trading, carbon emission tax, carbon border tax, emission reduction subsidies, etc.);

l  It is an important basis for the evaluation of green manufacturing such as green factories and green products;

l  It can be used as a basis for applying for green credit and local financial incentives;

l  Fulfill corporate social responsibility.

Basis for GHG verification (ISO 14064 can be combined with different GHG quantification standards according to the requirements of the target users)

——ISO 14064 "Specifications and Guidelines for the Quantification and Reporting of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Removals at the Organizational Level"

——GB/T 32150 "General Rules for Accounting and Reporting Greenhouse Gas Emissions of Industrial Enterprises"

——"Greenhouse Gas Protocol" (GHG Protocol)

——Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (IPCC)

——Guidelines for the Preparation of Provincial Greenhouse Gas Inventories

——Greenhouse gas accounting and reporting requirements of various localities and industries, etc.
