The first mandatory national standard for children's and children's textile products (children's wear) will be formally implemented in June 1, 2016. The purpose of this standard is to comprehensively standardize the safety performance of children's clothing, help to guide production enterprises to improve the safety and quality of children's clothing, and to protect the health and safety of infants and children.

They are divided into two categories according to their age.

- textile products for infants and young children: under 36 months of age

- children's textile products: under 3 years of age and below 14 years old

Classification of safety technology categories:

- according to the requirements, safety standards are classified into A, B and C categories. Class A is the best, B class is the next, and C class is the basic requirement.

- infant textile products should meet category a requirements; children's textile products with direct contact with the skin should at least meet the requirements of category B; children's textile products that are not directly exposed to the skin should meet the requirements of category C at least.

- standard requirements for children's clothing should be marked on the instructions, and infant textile products should also be filled with "baby products".

- when consumers choose children's clothing, they can refer to the safety categories specified in the instructions.

Comprehensive upgrading of safety requirements:

- based on GB18401, the standard further enhances the safety requirements of infant and children's textile products.

- Chemical Safety: 6 kinds of plasticizers and 2 heavy metals in lead and cadmium have been increased.

Mechanical safety: the standard specifies the rope for different parts of children's clothing, such as head, neck, shoulder and waist, and requires no rope for children and children under 7 years of age.

Textile accessories: the accessories should have some tensile strength, and should not have sharp edges and sharp edges.

- the standard also increases the combustion performance requirements.

Implementation of the two-year transition period:

- the standard will be formally implemented in June 1, 2016, and the standard will provide a transitional period of two years (June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2018).

- during the transition period, products manufactured and met the relevant standard requirements before June 1, 2016 will continue to be sold in the market.

From June 1, 2018, all relevant products on the market must meet the requirements of this standard.
